Service
Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)
Our Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) service is led by Carl Chapman, an experienced clinician with over 20 years in orthopaedic medicine, sports injuries, and pain management. Carl acts more like a consultant, assessing complex or stubborn musculoskeletal problems and guiding your onward care — whether that’s rehab, medication, or targeted interventions.
- Please note: Carl does not provide hands-on physiotherapy. His role is to assess, advise, and guide complex cases when more in-depth input is needed.
As an independent prescriber, Carl can issue private prescriptions for stronger pain relief, anti-inflammatories, or nerve pain medications — helping you avoid long waits to see your GP. There will be a separate charge for the prescription and the cost of the medication, which patients will need to pay directly to the dispensing pharmacy. We use a trusted local pharmacy where prescriptions can be conveniently collected.
Carl also offers anatomy-guided joint and soft tissue injections using cortisone or hyaluronic acid (such as Ostenil+), for conditions like arthritis, frozen shoulder, bursitis, or tendon issues.
He can refer privately for scans such as MRI, diagnostic ultrasound, or X-rays, and he can contact your GP to suggest NHS investigations if needed. Charlotte, Rosie, and McKenzie also have the ability to refer you privately if Carl advises a scan would help.
Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Service
Struggling with ongoing pain or stuck on an NHS waiting list? We can help.
Our ACP service is ideal for those facing long waits for orthopaedics or MSK care through the NHS. If you’ve been told to expect delays, or you’re unsure what’s actually wrong, this could be the next step to get a clear diagnosis, guidance on treatment, and scans arranged — all without needing a GP referral.
This service is led by Carl Chapman, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in orthopaedic medicine, sports injury, and pain management. Carl doesn’t provide hands-on physio treatment — he acts more like a consultant. His role is to assess complex or stubborn musculoskeletal problems and map out a plan to move you forward. That might involve recommending specific rehab, arranging a scan, prescribing stronger pain medication, or delivering targeted joint or soft tissue injections.
Carl is also an independent prescriber, meaning he can issue private prescriptions for stronger pain relief, nerve pain medications, or anti-inflammatories — saving you a lengthy wait to see your GP. There will be a separate charge for the prescription and for the medication itself, which can be collected from a trusted local pharmacy.
Where appropriate, Carl can also perform anatomy-guided injections using cortisone or hyaluronic acid (e.g. Ostenil +), which can be effective for arthritis, frozen shoulder, bursitis, and tendon-related issues. He doesn’t have access to refer directly into the NHS for scans, but he can recommend investigations to your GP — or, if time is of the essence, refer you privately to self fund for MRI, diagnostic ultrasound or X-ray. Charlotte, Rosie, and McKenzie are also able to arrange private scans if Carl advises one would help.
This is the ideal route if you feel like you’re in limbo — waiting, stuck, or getting nowhere. With Carl’s expertise and clinical judgment, we can help you take control of your pain and get a clear plan in place sooner.
