Back to Balance

Back to Balance is one of those classes I genuinely think everyone should try at some point, especially if you’ve noticed a dip in confidence with your balance, feel a bit unsteady on your feet, or simply want to keep moving well as you get older. It’s gentle, it’s supportive, and it’s built around what really matters: helping you stay strong, steady, and independent.

Led by our Physiotherapy Team Lead, McKenzie Jenkin, the class focuses on falls prevention, strength-building, and improving mobility in a way that feels safe and achievable. There’s no getting up and down off the floor, and no heavy weights. Everything is standing or seated, using small bits of equipment like resistance bands, soft balls and light weights to build strength, improve posture, and support everyday movement.

McKenzie brings a wealth of specialist physio experience to each session, combining targeted strength and balance work with a relaxed, friendly teaching style. You’ll learn how to move with more confidence, including how to safely manage the floor if you ever need to.

We focus on the fundamentals that keep you independent: balance, posture, strength, mobility, and confidence in your own body. Every movement is adaptable to your pace, and there’s never any pressure. Just a warm, welcoming group of people working steadily together, with plenty of laughter, good music and encouragement.

Whether you’re managing arthritis or osteoporosis, recovering from illness or injury, or simply want to feel more secure when walking, lifting, or getting out and about, this class is a brilliant place to start. The class takes place at 10.30 am on a Wednesday, in the gym at our Physio Rehab Barn in Rishworth.

With only 8 spaces per class, you’ll always get personal guidance and the kind of support that helps everything feel manageable.
