Booking is easy. You can book a physiotherapy appointment, 1:1 rehab session, or class by calling us on 0800 0751 641, or on this website. If you’re looking to join a class, it’s often easiest to book online via our TeamUp page, where you’ll find the full schedule and availability.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Most initial appointments are 60 minutes, which gives us enough time to assess what’s going on and begin treatment. Follow-up sessions are usually 30 minutes, but we may recommend longer depending on your condition.
You’ll get a full assessment and, where appropriate, hands-on treatment and advice. We ask that you wear something comfortable and stretchy — gym clothes, joggers or leggings are ideal. If we’re treating your upper body, a vest top or sports bra makes it easier for us to assess things properly. For classes, just bring a water bottle and towel if you need one.

Before your appointment, you’ll be emailed a few short forms to complete — including a medical history form and treatment consent. This helps us prepare properly and make sure you get the most from your session.
Your first appointment is all about understanding your problem — what’s causing it, what’s contributing to it, and how it’s affecting your life. From there, we’ll recommend a clear course of action.
For most people, recovery isn’t a quick fix. On average, you can expect 6–10 sessions. That’s because pain is often just one part of the puzzle — strength deficits, poor movement patterns, and muscle imbalances take time and focused rehab to address.
Take an arthritic knee, for example. We might start by easing pain and swelling, and arrange an X‑ray if needed. But if the muscles around the joint are weak, simply treating the pain means the problem will almost certainly return. Building strength is essential — and muscle doesn’t rebuild overnight. It takes weeks of progressive loading and good form to get back to full power.
Many people choose to continue with our physio‑led exercise classes at the Physio Rehab Barn because they enjoy the process and want to protect their results long‑term.
You can pay as you go, or choose one of our treatment bundles to save money:
We have two sites — each designed with your comfort in mind .
Ripponden Clinic (HX6 4DJ)
Our cosy, refurbished stone cottage clinic is just off Elland Road (B6113), opposite St. Bartholomew’s Church. Look for Mill Fold Industrial Estate and head to Number 11, where you’ll find our blue front door. We have four marked parking spaces right outside. If they’re full, there’s roadside parking nearby or a public car park by the bowling green.
The Physio Rehab Barn (HX6 4RB)
From Oldham Road, turn down Rishworth Mill Lane and follow the road to the right, past the Rishworth Palace apartments and around the hairpin bend. The barn is on your left — look out for our sign and the car park entrance. Please park on the left-hand side, away from the neighbouring property.
Ripponden Clinic
is where we offer physiotherapy assessments and treatments, sports massage, gait analysis, and 1:1 matwork Pilates.
The Physio Rehab Barn
is our class and rehab hub — home to group exercise classes, reformer Pilates, 1:1 gym-based rehab, and screening sessions.
If you’re ever unsure where your appointment or class is, just ask!
You can pay by card, Apple Pay, or cash. We also accept most private health insurance, including BUPA, AXA, WPA, Vitality, SimplyHealth and Nuffield Health.
If you’re claiming through insurance, please make sure your policy is active and that you have an authorisation code and policy number ready before your appointment. Most policies include an excess, which we’ll collect upfront.
We understand that plans change. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancelling physio or 1:1 sessions. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged in full. For classes, you can cancel up to 4 hours before the start time without being charged.
If you’re unwell or something unavoidable happens (like motorway delays), just let us know — we’re human too.
If you’re under 18, parental consent is needed for treatment. Under 13s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you’re over 13 but under 16, a parent usually still needs to consent — but we always check what the young person is comfortable with. You’re welcome to bring a chaperone to your appointment. If you need one provided or you require a translator, please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pay?
We accept card, Apple Pay, cash or bank transfer. If you’re using insurance, any excess is paid directly to us.
This varies from person to person. Some people feel better in just a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer rehab plan. Most commonly, it’s a mix of hands-on treatment and tailored exercise over 6–10 sessions. We’ll always guide you based on your progress and goals.
We always work within your comfort zone. Some techniques (like deep tissue work or shockwave therapy) can feel a little uncomfortable, but we’ll explain everything before we start and check in throughout. You’ll always be in control.
Loose, comfy clothes you can move freely in — joggers, leggings, or shorts are ideal. If we’re treating your upper body, a vest top or sports bra helps us assess more easily. For lower body issues, shorts or leggings are helpful.
Only if it’s needed to assess or treat the area properly — and only to the level you’re comfortable with. For example, we may ask you to remove a top for shoulder treatment or shorts for hip/knee assessments. We’ll always explain why and offer a towel or cover if needed. We will never ask you to remove underwear.
No — there’s no extra charge. If your physio feels you’ll benefit from K-Laser or Shockwave therapy, they’ll include it as part of your treatment session at no additional cost.
We do our absolute best to run to time, and in most cases we do. If we’re ever running late, it’s usually because a previous patient needed a little extra care — and we’d give you the same. We’ll always let you know if there’s a delay and won’t cut your time short.
Yes — we work with most major providers including BUPA, AXA, Vitality, WPA, SimplyHealth and Nuffield. You’ll need to arrange authorisation beforehand and bring your code and policy number. Please also check if your policy has an excess, which we’ll collect at your first visit.
All group classes, 1:1 gym-based rehab and 1:1 and class reformer Pilates sessions happen at The Physio Rehab Barn in Rishworth. All physio sessions, 1:1 matwork Pilates, and sports massage take place at our Ripponden Clinic.
Yes — if you’d feel more comfortable with someone present, you’re very welcome to bring a chaperone. Just let us know when booking. We can also provide one if needed.
Yes — if your physio believes you need a scan, we can refer you privately for MRI, ultrasound or X-ray. We have trusted local routes into private imaging without needing to go through your GP.
That’s exactly what we’re here for. Our physios are experienced in working with people with arthritis, osteoporosis, heart issues, chronic pain and more. We’ll support you gently, safely and at your pace.
