We went to the ball ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

We went to the ball, and hereโ€™s a photo to prove it.

The Happy Days โ€˜Orange is the New Blackโ€™ ball, to be exact – raising money for the homeless in Calderdale (of which there are many, by the way).

It was a hugely successful event and raised ยฃ85,000 for the charity. We did our bit and donated a silent auction prize, for which someone very generously paid ยฃ1000.

Thank you

You know who you are ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ.

We had a fantastic evening with lots of laughs. We even threw a few shapes on the dance floor – Susan and I swinging each other around to The Proclaimers’ ‘500 Miles’ was a sight to behold. # still got it ๐Ÿ˜‰.

However, the evening also had a sombre message. We heard a few unfortunate stories about ordinary people who had had hard times in their lives, many at no fault of their own, and who had then found themselves without anywhere to live. Some were in a terrible state and required medical care and intensive support from the charity.

There were happy endings to the stories we heard, but many aren’t so lucky. The happy endings also had a common theme: they had all found the courage to ask for help.

Recognising when you need some support and being able to ask for it is a brave thing to do. It paid off hugely for these people who had managed to recover and turn their lives around.

This is the story’s moral – when you are out of your depth, don’t be too afraid to ask for help. Talk to the people who understand and can help direct the path through the problem.

I know that for many of us, our problems pale insignificantly compared to these people’s stories. However, pain and injury can also be very debilitating and can affect a person’s mental health.

We are the people you can turn to in this event, and you can expect us to be able to guide you through the recovery process.

If you need us, we’re here.
All the best,

Charlotte.
