CrossFit and Hyrox Physiotherapy
If you train hard, you’ll know your body needs looking after — and when something feels “off”, you want advice from someone who gets it. At Back to Fitness Physio, several of our team members actively take part in CrossFit and Hyrox, so we’re not just reading about it in textbooks — we’re in the gym, on the floor, lifting, lunging, and suffering through wall balls too.
We know the physical demands of these sports: the volume, intensity, and complexity of movements involved — and the way small imbalances can spiral into niggles that mess with your training cycle. Whether you’ve picked up an injury, want to reduce your risk of one, or you’re chasing a new PB, we’re here to help you move well, stay strong, and train smarter.
What Does Crossfit and Hyrox Physiotherapy Involve?
We’ll start by listening to what’s going on — what you’re training for, where you feel limited, and what movements are causing issues. Then we assess: we look at joint mobility, movement patterns, muscle imbalances, and the quality of your lifts or functional movements (not just lying on a couch poking around).
Treatment might include manual therapy, soft tissue work, K-Laser, shockwave therapy, or dry needling — but most of the magic comes from targeted rehab and progressive strength programming. We’ll help you understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how to fix it.
You’ll walk away with a clear plan and strategies you can implement in the gym — whether that’s scaling movements, improving technique, or adjusting your recovery to match your load. We’ll keep it practical, realistic, and sport-specific.
Benefits and Outcomes of Crossfit and Hyrox Physiotherapy Treatment
The ultimate aim is to get you back doing what you love — faster, safer, and better. Whether you’re preparing for competition or just want to train pain-free, the benefits of seeing someone who understands your sport can’t be overstated
Expect reduced pain, improved mobility, better mechanics, and fewer setbacks. We don’t just treat symptoms — we work on the root cause, help you build resilience, and tailor rehab to the exact movements you need, whether that’s toes-to-bar, sled pushes, or heavy cleans.
And because we train too, we won’t tell you to “just stop doing it” — we’ll help you adapt and keep training intelligently while you recover.

Crossfit and Hyrox Physiotherapy FAQs
What are the most common injuries seen in CrossFit and Hyrox athletes?
Shoulders, knees, lower backs, and Achilles issues top the list — often from volume overload, poor mechanics, or tight timelines between training and recovery. Wrist and elbow issues are common too.
How do you tailor rehab or prehab plans specifically for CrossFit and Hyrox athletes?
We rehab you through the sport — not away from it. Plans include scaled variations of your actual movements, progressive overload, and strategies to improve control, mobility, and technique in key areas like squats, hinge patterns, pressing, and running.
Do I need to be injured to benefit from physiotherapy?
Not at all. We love working on prehab, movement efficiency, and niggle prevention. If you want to improve your form, recover quicker, or reduce your injury risk, come in before it becomes a bigger issue.
How often should I see a physio if I train CrossFit or Hyrox multiple times a week?
That depends on your goals and how your body’s coping with the load. Some people benefit from a session every 4–6 weeks to stay on top of tightness or movement inefficiencies. Others come in for focused rehab during or after injury.
Do you offer physio screening or movement analysis for CrossFit/Hyrox?
Yes — we can assess your movement patterns, lifting technique, and injury risk. It’s a great option if you’re pushing toward a comp or starting a new training block.
Can you liaise with my coach or PT?
Absolutely. We’re happy to collaborate so your rehab complements your programme, not competes with it.
